Caching frameworks

Just reading up on memcached and lightcloud.  I’ve used memcached in projects at work, where the life of a chached item isn’t that long, but may receive sudden repeat hits.  But tonight I came across lightcloud after reading Justin Mason‘s blog.

What I like about lightcloud is that it’s pure Python, which is impressive considering its benchmarking when compared to memcached.  Also, what makes it different is that it uses disk to store the cache results permenantly, while memcached keeps everything in memory.

Can’t think of an application right away that I’d use it at work on any of my projects, but I’ll be sure to pass it onto a developer or two tomorrow when I see them.
